Complete guide to connecting and setting up your wallet with Metalos.

Metalos requires a Base network-compatible wallet to manage your DeFi portfolio. This guide covers setup for all supported wallet types, network configuration, and platform-specific instructions.

Prerequisites

Before connecting, ensure you have:

Minimum Balance: 25 USDC on Base network for meaningful allocation
Gas Funds: Small amount of ETH on Base for transaction fees (~$2-5)
Network Access: Stable internet connection for real-time portfolio updates

Never share your wallet's seed phrase or private keys with anyone. Metalos will never ask for this information.

Platform-Specific Setup

Desktop Connection Process

Navigate to Metalos

Open https://metalos.xyz/ in your browser. The app works best with Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

You should see the main dashboard with a "Connect Wallet" button.

Select Wallet Type

Click "Connect Wallet" and choose from the available options:

Coinbase Wallet (includes Smart Wallet)
MetaMask
WalletConnect (for other wallets)

If using MetaMask for the first time, you'll need to add the Base network first.

Authorize Connection

Your wallet will prompt you to:

Approve the connection to Metalos
Switch to Base network (if not already connected)
Sign a message to verify ownership

This signature doesn't cost gas - it's just proof you control the wallet.

Verify Connection

Once connected, you'll see:

Your wallet address in the top-right corner
Current Base network balance
Available vaults for deposit

Green dot next to wallet address confirms active connection.

Base Mobile App Integration

Open Base Mobile App

Launch the official Base mobile app and navigate to the "Apps" or "Mini Apps" section.

Find Metalos

Search for "Metalos" or browse the DeFi category. Tap to launch the mini app.

Mini apps run inside the Base app environment with automatic wallet integration.

The Base app automatically handles wallet connection:

No manual wallet selection needed
Instant access to your Base network assets
Built-in transaction approval flows

Enable Notifications

Allow push notifications for:

Portfolio performance updates
Rebalancing notifications
Governance proposals (coming soon)

Mobile Browser Setup

Open Wallet App

Launch your mobile wallet app (Coinbase Wallet, MetaMask Mobile, etc.)

Navigate via Wallet Browser

Use your wallet's built-in browser to visit https://metalos.xyz/

Don't use Safari or Chrome directly - use your wallet's browser for best compatibility.

Connect & Approve

The wallet should automatically detect the dApp and prompt for connection approval.

Coinbase Smart Wallet

Create Smart Wallet

If you don't have a Coinbase Smart Wallet:

Download the Coinbase Wallet app
Create a new Smart Wallet (requires phone verification)
Fund with USDC on Base network

Connect to Metalos

Smart Wallets have the best Metalos experience:

MetaMask Setup

Add Base Network

If Base isn't in your MetaMask networks:

Network Details:

Network Name: Base
New RPC URL: https://mainnet.base.org
Chain ID: 8453
Currency Symbol: ETH
Block Explorer URL: https://basescan.org

MetaMask may auto-detect and suggest adding Base when you connect to Metalos.

Import USDC Token

Add USDC to see your balance:

Token Contract: 0x833589fCD6eDb6E08f4c7C32D4f71b54bdA02913
Symbol: USDC
Decimals: 6

Rainbow Wallet

Enable Base Network

Rainbow includes Base by default:

Open the wallet
Switch to Base network
Ensure you have USDC and ETH for gas

Connect via WalletConnect

Use WalletConnect option in Metalos if direct connection isn't available.

Common Issues & Troubleshooting

Connection fails or times out

Solutions:

Refresh the page and try again
Check your internet connection
Ensure wallet is unlocked and on Base network
Try a different browser or clear cache
Disable ad blockers or browser extensions

Wrong network error

Solutions:

Manually switch to Base network in your wallet
Look for network switch prompts from Metalos
Add Base network manually if not present
Restart your wallet app if on mobile

No USDC balance showing

Solutions:

Verify you're on Base network (not Ethereum mainnet)
Import USDC token contract if using MetaMask
Bridge USDC from Ethereum to Base using official bridge
Check transaction history to confirm deposits

Session keeps disconnecting

Solutions:

Enable "Stay Connected" if available
Avoid switching browser tabs frequently
Use mobile app or Base mini app for persistent connections
Check wallet settings for auto-disconnect timers
