Complete overview of Metalos strategy tiers with risk analysis and protocol details.
Metalos organizes vault strategies into clear tiers so you can match return goals with risk tolerance. The current release concentrates on three audited protocols running on Base, each serving a different type of depositor.
Tier | Risk Level | Current Protocol | Expected APY Range | Target User Profile |
---|---|---|---|---|
Extremely Safe | 1/5 | Morpho lending (USDC) | 3-6% | Capital preservation, predictable returns |
Not Very Risky | 2/5 | Aerodrome WETH-USDC LP | 5-12% | Balanced retail, moderate growth |
Moderately Risky | 3/5 | Aerodrome AERO-wstETH LP | 8-20% | Yield maximization, higher volatility tolerance |
APY ranges reflect current market conditions and protocol incentives. Actual yields fluctuate with trading volume, liquidity depth, and Base network activity.
Each vault tier is evaluated across multiple risk dimensions before integration:
These evaluations inform tier placement (Safe, Moderate, Risky), but are not published as formal numerical scores.
Metalos monitors vault performance and security continuously. If concerns arise, the team can pause deposits and notify users while investigating.
Capital preservation comes first in this tier. Deposits stay in USDC and are lent through Morpho, an optimizer that routes funds to over-collateralized markets. Returns stick to the lower single digits, but volatility is minimal and there is no impermanent loss. Weekly health checks monitor utilization, collateral ratios, and governance proposals to keep the strategy within its safety parameters.
This tier balances growth with stability by providing liquidity to the WETH-USDC pair on Aerodrome. Depositors earn trading fees and AERO incentives while maintaining a 50/50 mix of ETH exposure and stablecoins. Impermanent loss exists but is generally offset by revenue when markets stay within a reasonable range. Automated systems track volatility, incentive changes, and pool depth and can suggest rebalancing or migration if conditions worsen.
The growth-oriented tier combines AERO governance tokens with wstETH, capturing both protocol incentives and liquid staking yield. Returns are highest here, but so is volatility: governance tokens can swing wildly and impermanent loss accumulates quickly when prices diverge. Daily monitoring of incentives, price action, and liquidity ensures users know when risk is elevated.
Metalos is designed to evolve. Community members can propose new vaults, supply risk analyses, and ask the AI research corps to validate security assumptions. Proposals then move through committee review and ultimately community voting (with futarchy-based markets planned for later phases). Successful vaults are integrated, monitored, and documented just like the existing ones. The roadmap already includes additional lending markets, options strategies, and cross-chain opportunities, all pending governance approval.
Integration isn’t automatic. Vaults must clear rigorous audits, meet liquidity thresholds, and demonstrate a compelling risk/reward profile before the community adopts them.
Within each tier, yields combine several components. Lending strategies rely on borrower interest plus marginal efficiency gains from optimization. Liquidity strategies earn trading fees, protocol incentives, and asset appreciation. Multi-asset strategies add governance token rewards and liquidity staking yield. Metalos publishes historical volatility and drawdown statistics so you can see how each tier behaved during past market regimes.
Historical performance does not guarantee future results. Crypto markets can change faster than traditional finance, so treat APY projections as directional guidance rather than promises.
The automation layer tracks benchmarks, correlation shifts, and risk metrics across all tiers. When market conditions change, the dashboard surfaces recommendations—rebalance between tiers, rotate into safer vaults, or consider taking profits. You retain full control: rebalancing, withdrawing, or reallocating is as simple as signing a transaction.
The AI chat agent can recommend allocations across tiers based on your risk tolerance. Try asking how you should split funds between the Metalos strategies.
